The back...

Usually what I do when reading a book is read the entire novel, then read the back later. This is because the backs of books tend to give away crucial plot twists which I would prefer not to find out about until I've begun reading the book. I immersed myself in Lord of Light no differently. However, that seems to have been a big mistake. Having finally finished the book, I decided to check out it's summary. Well, it turns out that...
"Earth is long since dead. On a colony planet, a band of men has gained control of technology, made themselves immortal, and now rules their world as the gods of Hindu pantheon." (Zelazny backside)
If I had read this early it would've really cleared up some confusion. It wasn't crucial in knowing, and Zelazny does give us hints that have a potential to lead to this end, but unless one has a extremely high level of intelligence it's difficult to figure it out without being told. Oh well, maybe I'll re-think how I read novels of his in the future, as I'm sure to read more of his works after this adventure.
