A comment on his genius

I would just like write about something one of the critics said regarding Lord of Light. Here is Greg Bear's comment.

"Roger Zelazny was one of SF's finest storytellers, a poet with an immense and instinctive gift for language. Reading Zelazny is like dropping into a Mozart string quartet as played by Thelonious Monk." --Greg Bear, author of Darwin's Children

This is something I have found to be entirely true. As listeners of classical music will tell you, everything is up for interpretation, and as a result, one can deeply immerse himself in it's intricacies. Zelazny is the same way, except with words. This entire novel can be interpreted in so many ways, that it's astounding. I'm sure the author himself has no idea of all the things people have been able to discover by reading his work.

When Bear compares Zelazny to Mozart, that is of the highest praise. Mozart is one of classical musics finest and most enthralling composers. It seems as if Zelazny established himself as the "god" of Sci-fi. I'm not sure if this is entirely true, but he has certainly contributed more than his share to the literary world.
