Stephen King: as a writer

One of the most well known aspects of Stephen King's writing style is his unique way of bringing out the nitty-gritty of a novel, and use it to bring in a personalized eeriness and type of horror. Thus far, King seems to be leaving out some of his trademarks. Yes, the Gunslinger does contain a type of eeriness, but it isn't King's usual. It is just plain odd, not really frightening in the slightest. For instance, when King is describing one of the native peoples the gunslinger decides to camp out with. The setting is full of animals, and a bird who wont stop talking. It reminds me of a kind of a caribian mumbo jumbo, full of superstition. Hopefully King's trademark style will soon emerge, as it is the reason why I decided to read "The Gunslinger". If it doesn't, I will be highly disappointed.
